One word, motion.

Re-imagine the world of prevention with Bermuda’s most celebrated staple in community leadership, public health, and development.

After 35 years of PRIDE, its members take a leap toward the advancement and longevity of the organization with an update that answers the nation’s most urgent call: social-emotional learning.

SHIFT is fresh, forward-thinking, and carries the fearless spirit of today’s young leader. If PRIDE is Bermuda’s heart, Shift is Bermuda’s pulse.

Though its mission remains to prevent substance abuse and health risk behaviors in children, it also seeks to grant every individual of all ages and stages a chance at expansion, exploration, and adventure; to recognize and reward leadership wherever it’s presented; and to revive those who have experienced a loss of passion, direction, and purpose.

This new cognitive and social-emotional approach to learning not only puts young people in motion for career success, it finally provides tools to address their emotions responsibly. It empowers educators to improve the lives of young people by authentically engaging them in quality social-emotional learning and substance abuse prevention programmes.

This revision dares to break away from outdated practices, welcomes new input—and helps to continue to view every member of the community as relevant, worthy, and necessary.

We encourage bravery in our employees — trusting in the power of their individual abilities to solve our industry’s most puzzling issues. Because of this, our employees can return each day with a renewed sense of belonging.

We present viable options for young people, showing them that with a Shift in behavior and belief, anything is possible.

We greet our colleagues, sponsors, neighboring businesses, young participants and the advocates who accompany them, with excitement and foster an environment where all work is appreciated.

All of its moving parts, from our programmes and services to our partners and patrons, work together to promote our central idea; “Shift is the place for movement and improvement.”
